We create architecture that unites beauty and form with strategy and intelligence.
We believe that clarity of purpose, rigor of process, and elegance of craft results in an architecture that advances clients’ missions and transforms the lives of users, our built surroundings and society-at-large.
We are united by our shared principles, engaged approach to design, collaborative process and our dedication to technical precision, always in an effort to achieve the greatest aesthetic impact with the fewest natural and financial resources.
We work with likeminded leaders on cultural, educational, commercial and residential projects to unlock the hidden potential within complex architectural and urban constraints.
Architecture Research Office (ARO) is the New York City firm led by Stephen Cassell, Kim Yao, and Adam Yarinsky. Since 1993, the firm’s diverse project portfolio— spanning strategic planning, architecture and urban design—is united by a principled and engaged approach to design, collaborative process, and technical precision, always in an effort to achieve the greatest aesthetic impact with the fewest natural and financial resources. This philosophy has earned the firm over one hundred design awards (#Awards) including the 2020 AIA Architecture Firm Award, the AIA New York State Firm of the Year Award, and the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award for Architecture.
